Chemistry Websites

1) Staab Chemistry blog:  You will find a syllabus for the course content, how you will be assessed, how to link to your current grade, assignment due dates, study tips, links to useful Chemistry websites, videos and photos. New posts are on top, older posts as you scroll down. www.chem1staab.blogspot.com

2) PPS Synergy:  You can check your current grade, online, anytime.  But you need the username and password which the school should mail to your parents.  SYNERGY

3)
Chemistry video lessons: If you miss a lesson done in class the best resources are on YouTube.  I recommend Crash Course Chemistry channel, Brightstorm channel and Khan academy channel.  For IB chemistry Richard Thornley channel is the resource I currently recommend.

4) Online Chemistry Tutor: If you get stuck and want to visit an online tutor, try
www.mychemistrytutor.com Another excellent resource which has information about HOW to learn Chemistry can be found at http://www.chemtutor.com/index.html

5) Online Textbooks:  There are a few good resources.
For General Chemistry you can use en.wikibooks.org/wiki/General_Chemistry.
For IB Chemistry you can use en.wikibooks.org/wiki/IB_Chemistry.
A second resource for IB Enviromental Systems is found at IB Environmental Systems and Societies
For IB Chemistry you can also use ibchem.com which has an online IB syllabus AND Powerpoint presentations on almost all IB topics. (Look for the PPT library link on the right).
This is a converter website and etc ENDMEMO

6) Periodic Tables:  The best online periodic table is interactive,  with links to several other tables, and at ptable.com.

7) Other Chemistry online resources.  Here are some other websites you can use to learn Chemistry or get involved in science online.
Almost any Chemistry topic is covered in some way on YouTube.  Unfortunately the videos and explanations are not always correct, so never use it as your only source of information.  And please do not try any of the pyrotechnics you see people doing on YouTube without supervision of a trained Chemist.  Some of them are truly extreamly dangerous.  It can happen to you.
Wikipedia and About.com are good resources for many Chemistry topics, so long as they are not your only resource.
If you are interested in watching some excellent videos of Chemistry topics that may not directly correspond with General or IB Chem topics I recommend the amazing website www.periodicvideos.com which has a true genius mad professor Martyn Poliakoff a pioneer "green" Chemist.
There is an excellent free chemical database at www.chemspider.com
